First of all, DermLite FOTO37 incorporates 24 white LEDs (light emitting diodes) to provide extremely bright and natural illumination with high color temperature. We combined it with 3Gen's proven, state-of-the-art, cross-polarization lens system, and we created a digtal dermatoscope for advanced digital dermatoscopy like no other.

No Glare, No Oil, No Guesswork
FOTO epiluminescence takes the guesswork out of ELM with its glare-free, shadow-free epiluminescence and lets you experience images of superb clarity and detail for the early detection of melanoma and its differentiation from other pigmented lesions.

Zoom Your Way
FOTO provides 8X magnification using a distortion reduced multi-compound lens with a field of view (FOV) of about 25 mm diameter for macro photography. Image magnification and the field of view will be multiplied by the optical zoom capability of the camera used. With the standard 3x zoom of commercially available digital cameras like the Nikon 4300, the FOV is approximately 10mm in diameter - a perfect size for early diagnosis of melanoma in pigmented lesions. Some cameras offer a 10x optical or digital zoom which will result in a highly magnified 2mm field of view.

DermLite FOTO37 Section View. Light from LEDs passes through ring polarizer (red) and illuminates the area of examination. The skin absorbs part of the light, whereas the reflected light is then cross-polarized before returning to the eye of the camera. By filtering out the surface reflection, FOTO allows you to see the deeper structures of skin lesions - for the early detection of skin cancer.
